St Lucian native and Villars Expert Jan Yves Remy, Director of the Shridath Ramphal Centre (SRC), University of the West Indies, knows first-hand how susceptible her island is to the ravages of climate change - and she’s using trade policy to try and alleviate it.

In collaboration with the Yale Institute for the Environment and Tufts University, Remy is working on the Reforming the Global Trading System for a Sustainable Future project, encouraging governments, policymakers, and trade organizations to think creatively about how#TradePolicy should interact with other systems of governance and put the planet at the center of the global trading system.

We’re delighted to be working closely with Jan Yves Remy, Dan Esty, Joel P. Trachtman and the team on this important initiative, and for the active involvement of Villars Fellows brings the voice of young people to the conversations and recommendations published in the Villars Framework 2.0.

As WTO hosts its 13th Ministerial Conference, be inspired by Jan Yves Remy and her work on aligning global trade with sustainable practices to halt biodiversity loss and climate change.
