Net-Zero Emissions

Net-Zero Emissions

Net Zero is achieved when the amount of greenhouse gas produced in the global economy is no more than the amount removed from the atmosphere. Net Zero is necessary to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius in order to avoid the catastrophic impacts of climate change. Nature-positive means halting and reversing nature loss by 2030, measured from a baseline of 2020. It entails preventing the extinction of all known threatened species, protecting and conserving at least 30% of the world’s land, sea and freshwater systems. This theme is a workstream of the Villars Institute.
