Research shows that nature-based solutions could contribute up to 30% of the climate mitigation needed by 2050 to decarbonize the global economy. Forests alone represent 80% of the world’s terrestrial biodiversity and provide clean air and water, protect against erosion and landslides, and remove carbon from the atmosphere. Restoring native forests and wetlands in catchments is an example of a solution. This theme is a workstream of the Villars Institute.
